What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the sublime natural beauty of the Camargue Gardoise, highlighting the unique landscapes, abundant wildlife like flamingos and horses, and the peaceful atmosphere. The well-maintained trails offer an immersive experience, though some note limited English from staff and the lack of shade.
"This sublime "Grand site de France" is located on Camargue Gardoise, a very singular territory with flat landscapes and strongly influenced by the water that is omnipresent. Composed of magnificent interpretation and wild trails, where it is good to feel alone in the world outside the summer period with this natural environment, to admire its exceptional fauna and flora, flamingos and other birds, with mosaic landscapes of natural backgrounds. The intense light which is reflected in the waters of marshes and lagoons signs the unique and exceptional character of this territory. Its identity is reinforced by its inhabitants who live there with a taste of freedom alongside black bulls, white horses and flamingos ..."

"We loved our visit to this place. despite the staff speaking very little English, they were very friendly and between my poor French and their poor English we did well. There is a nice little shop if you want to buy souvenirs of the area and there was an exhibition about the conservation of the area. we were also directed to the exhibition upstairs which was also very good, and they had English translations on the displays which was good. But of course the main part of the visit is out into the countryside. There is a path to follow (which you are asked to keep to so as not to ruin the park). It takes you through the marshlands giving you a close look at the flora and fauna of the area. They have done a really nice job of providing points for you to look over the area, and boardwalks that take you over watery parts and actually out onto the lake at the far side where you can see Flamingos in the distance. There is no shade so if you are sensitive to the sun cover up and where a sunhat. Personally, I loved being out in the dry heat and sunshine and soaking up all the smells of the earth and the plants. You could probably walk around it in half an hour unless you want to take it slow and appreciate things. The are information boards as you go round and I imagine it's quite fun for kids. certainly the ones that we saw seem to be happy enough. A little added not for people who are staying in Aigues Mortes and don't have a car....it is easily walkable to. There is a quiet road on the opposite side of the canal with a footpath and you get to walk past the boats first."
