What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find the ValVital Thermal Baths a wonderfully relaxed place for a soothing experience, particularly enjoying the warm outdoor pool with its invigorating jets. The inclusion of robes and towels in the entry fee is appreciated, though some note that certain facilities could benefit from minor updates. The strict swimwear policy and slightly higher prices at the cafe are common points of feedback.
"A wonderfully relaxed 2 hours at ValVital Thermal Baths in Aix Les Bains.
Great value. Entry included obligatory cap and flip-flops. Bath-robe and towel provided in price.
Head to the outdoor pool for a fantastic selection of cascades and pummeling jets. Despite the February drizzle, the water is beautifully warm.
Downstairs is a good Hammam and sauna.
Well worth a visit. ❤️"

"You will need sandals, hair cover and a swimming short (regular shorts worn outside are not allowed, either bring it or buy one at the entrance). €23 for all-day access is not a bad price but there isn’t more than two warm pools and sauna rooms. Somehow I was expecting to bathe in sulphuric water directly from the mountain. There is a nice cafe with great views to enjoy."

"We came there with my friend, having traditional swimming suites with us. Lady on the reception asked us “do you have Speedo”. We didn’t get her and answered “yes, we have swimming suites with us”. After doing in and dressing we came to the main area and another lady has said “these swimming shorts are too long and are not allowed here”. We came out absolutely frustrated. That was just a sexism in my mind! Don’t use this therme if you can find other option!"

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Consider the age of your children when planning. While the thermal waters are soothing, the hammam and sauna might be more suited for adults. The cafe offers a place to rest and refuel, though options are somewhat limited and can be pricey. It's a good idea to pack snacks if you have picky eaters.
💰 Budget Travelers
Be mindful of additional costs for food and drinks at the cafe, which can be a bit expensive. Understanding the Thermal Experience
While the core thermal experience is well-regarded for its warmth and therapeutic benefits, some reviews mention that certain aspects of the facilities could benefit from updates. Details like shower areas or lighting might show signs of wear. However, the overall ambiance is described as wonderfully relaxed, making it a good choice for a peaceful day.
It's important to note the specific dress code. While robes and towels are usually provided, visitors must wear appropriate swim shorts (shorter styles are preferred) and a swim cap. Flip-flops are also essential for navigating the wet areas. These items are mandatory, and failure to bring them will result in additional purchase costs.
Navigating the Rules and Etiquette
Beyond swimwear, mandatory swim caps and flip-flops are standard. While these are often included in packages or available for purchase, bringing your own can save a small amount of money. The facility aims to maintain a clean and hygienic environment, and these regulations contribute to that goal.
When it comes to additional services like massages, it's wise to book in advance. While the massages are generally praised for being professional and relaxing, availability can be limited. The on-site cafe offers a convenient spot for refreshments, but be mindful that prices for food items can be on the higher side compared to external options.
