Reviews Summary

Valloires Abbey is primarily celebrated for its stunning and extensive gardens, offering a peaceful and beautiful escape. While the abbey buildings provide historical context, the French-only guided tours and large group sizes can be a drawback for some. Visitors appreciate the well-maintained grounds and welcoming atmosphere, making it a worthwhile destination, especially for garden lovers.

"The guided tour of the Abbey buildings was reasonable but the buildings themselves are not spectacular and the guide talked at you not to you as if the material had to be delivered no matter what. In truth the gardens are worth 4 stars but if you are interested in gardens Maizicourt ,some 30 km down the road, are a better use of your time."

"Superb abbey, well maintained with a nice guided tour. The main attraction is the splendid park with so many different plants and colours. Entrance price is a bit steep so plan to stay all day. You can eat at the restaurant, nice food, ask for a picnic hamper or bring your own. Lots to see in the area if you're on holiday."

Lou Lefebvre

"A beautiful building but the visit was in a group with a guide. The group was too large and we could not all get into the large salon and the heat meant that we were flagging at the end. The guide did her best and was good but often we had difficulty hearing her and I think the gardens were better. There is no religious life left here, all the monks left long ago so it's used for children with nowhere else to go and there is an old people's home too."
