What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Grotte de la Cocalière for its stunning and diverse rock formations, calling it one of France's most beautiful caves. The guided tour is informative, and the unique overnight accommodation is a highlight. However, the extensive stairs make it inaccessible for those with mobility issues, and the cost can be high for families, with some finding younger children may not stay engaged for the full hour.
"It's a great cave. Not great for small kids under 7 years old because they are bored fast. Also if you are disabled it's not a place you want to go, because you need to walk lots of stairs to go down and a few up.
The tour guide was super, also in English. And a written translation in different languages. You can get it for free at the reception.
The cave is special because there is a big variety from rocks and stalagmites and stalactites. It's always around 15 degrees Celsius in the cave."

"Really interesting tour, 250 steps down, about 40min tour, many different stops to describe the geology, formations, history. In French but will willingly answer questions in English. Well worth it."

"A visitor attraction like this is really dependent on how good the guide is and unfortunately our guide was very poor with his English descriptions. After five minutes of French, he gave one sentence of English. After a hour, it all became rather boring. There was plenty of shaded parking and a pleasant enough cafe but the cost for two adults and six children was over €100, so it couldn't overall be called good value for money."
