Certain times of year they light everything up with candles, including the vast gardens. It’s amazing! If you’re visiting Paris and can arrange the transportation, candle lit Vaux is a better experience than Versailles. Plus what we know as Versailles today was largely Louis…

Vaux-le-Vicomte: Highlight of Our Trip
Before I begin: yes, this was a drive outside the city. I don’t think of it as a day trip, but didn’t know what flair to add! And no, the food isn’t Michelin cuisine (it’s not bad, though!). But hear me out. It was one of the most beautiful experiences we had during the Paris…
Last Saturday at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte 🏰
The gardens (Le Notre's) are my favorite place on earth. The pool with the long path around it is heavenly!

"Absolutely beautiful! With emersive headphones you can really imagine what life was like in the 1600s. We went in mid Sept and almost had the place to ourselves. Beautiful gardens. Highly recommend seeing this amazing chateau."

"Went with a small tour group. Sunday afternoon, Mid-September.
We really enjoyed the tour. Contains automatic start audio tour (per room), worked great. Paid the extra €5 to climb the dome (great views). The audio tour walks you through the tragedy of the owner, destroys a whole village to build his palace, throws a grand new house party, pisses off the king, gets framed, thrown in jail the rest of his life!"
Dave Proffer
"I you want to realize where Versailles comes from , you have to visit the chateau of Vaux le Vicomte. It took roughly 20 years to achieve this fabulous and human size castle that inspired Louis XIV to order the construction of the chateau de Versailles. Take the audio guide to enjoy the visit to its fullest. Check the hours because it is not open year round."
