Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Nevers Cathedral for its breathtaking modern stained glass windows, a vibrant testament to post-war renewal. The ancient 6th-century crypt and intricate spiral staircase are also highlighted as significant historical and architectural marvels. While renovations are noted, they don't detract from the overall impressive experience.

"Nevers Cathedral has an amazing set of modern stained glass windows. They were re-done after it was bombed accidentally during WWII. It is worth to go inside just to see the windows.
The outside is equally impressive, although it is undergoing extensive renovations when we visited in July 2025. You still get access to the rear half that contains the windows."

Simon Round

"The cathedral is undergoing a lot of renovation, but you can still access the interior areas. The stained glass windows are replacement for the originals following the cathedral being bombed during WW2. Strangely there were no leaflets with details about the cathedral on sale. Perhaps they are being reprinted."

Christopher J McAuley

"An historic cathedral with a 6th century baptismal underneath. The stained glass windows which were added in the 20th century, were amazing. Well worth the visit"
