Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Musée Gustave Moreau for its unique charm as an artist's home and studio, highlighting the breathtaking spiral staircase and the immersive experience of stepping into Moreau's world. While some find the private apartments a bit dark, the overall sentiment is one of awe for the art and architecture.

"I highly recommend visiting Gustave Moreau's house/studio museum, especially so if you are an artist yourself. His studio is so spacious, with his artwork adorning the tall walls, a bit hard to properly see at times though. But what's most amazing is that you have access to his infinite sketches, which are set up in such a way that you can sit down and browse them in a retractable "folder" style set up of which there are many. Fantastic opportunity to get into the head of another artist through these sketches and ideas!"

"The Gustave Moreau Museum is a lovely and captivating place, offering a fascinating glimpse into the artist’s world with stunning paintings and a unique atmosphere. However, be prepared to wait on weekends—even with advance tickets, the line can be surprisingly long. Plan accordingly to fully enjoy this hidden gem!

"Visited on April 5, 2025. Online reservation necessary for the first sunday of the month free ticket. Unfortunately, the ground floor and first floor were closed to the public.
Th works by Moreau are not my cup of tea, but it's interesting to see his studio adorned with a beautiful spiral staircase. Another thing I like about this museum is the information cards in different languages. So much better than reading the little text next to the paintings in most other museums, especially when they are crowded."
