What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Toaroto Beach is celebrated for its exceptional snorkeling and beautiful white sand, offering a tropical escape. Visitors appreciate the affordable paddleboard rentals and basic amenities. However, caution is advised due to the rocky seabed, strong currents, and reported car break-ins, making water shoes and securing valuables essential.
"Lovely public beach with EXCELLENT SNORKELING. I came with my husband from a nearby hotel (we hired a taxi). The hotel staff had some trouble determining where we were indicating we wanted to go and confused it with another public beach Vaiava. It was a little difficult to tell them where we wanted to go because we speak only English but we got there!
There is also bus stop there too, but the bus system in Tahiti was very challenging to figure out.
The parking lot is small but the locals also parked in the grass near the showers and there did not seem to be any trouble with that.
There is a paddle board rental on the beach that is very affordable and you can leave your stuff there while you are out.
There is also a massage place there that was recommended to us by a local!
Do not be afraid of the little ants everywhere. They will crawl on your feet but don’t bite or sting. If you move your feet they will not crawl up your leg.
There are showers and bathrooms on-site - about what you would expect for public facilities.
Because of the ants, I would only recommend this beach for people who plan to spend most of the time playing in the water. But again, they don’t bite or anything, just kind of annoying."

"Very rocky and strong cross current. Definitely bring water shoes and snorkel gear so you can see where you're going. We got cut up pretty good."

"Beach is good for snorkeling, but be careful. We had cash stolen from our wallet that was in our car when we went snorkeling. They rummaged through our stuff and found the car key, then got the cash from the wallet in the glove compartment."
