Avlabari is appreciated for its historic charm, authentic local atmosphere, and convenient metro access. Visitors enjoy the beautiful old buildings and the relaxed pace, finding it a peaceful escape from busier tourist areas. However, some caution is advised regarding safety in certain parts at night, and the metro station's deep escalators can be a notable feature.
"This metro looks like its closed but its not. Under going renovations. Metro times are 6am to midnight. The metro is easy to use. Just ask for a 1 day metro card and pay with 5 Gel for example. The card cost 2 gel, and you will get 3 journeys. And you can load again after. Each journey cost 1 Gel using the card. Watch out for the escalator its fast, hold on. Its really deep didn't expect this. The trains are ok. Looks like the london underground. Although russian built this station is not as ornate. You tap in to enter but no need to tap out. Signs in English easy to use. I went to liberty square, one stop away, it was too hot to walk. Liberty station is a bit better. There are more ticket booths and machines. You can top up your card at the station or the floating machines located all over."
