Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg for its focused collection of Surrealist art, offering an intimate and thought-provoking experience. The special exhibitions are frequently highlighted as a major draw, providing unique thematic explorations. While generally well-received, some visitors note that it might be less engaging for those not already familiar with or interested in Surrealism.

"It’s a cute fairly little museum yet the collection is somewhat limited and it’s recommendable to combine it with a visit to Charlottenburg. On a hot summer day the older part of the museum gets really hot, when the old part of the church is almost too cold. Also had a cute café in the building."

"A very nice and refreshing exhibition on surrealism.

Located just across the Charlottenburg Palace, in the former barracks of King Friedrich William’s Garde de Corps. The museum has a nice little cafe with seating outside."

Z O L U

"This museum is one of the smallest of dozen of world famous museums in Berlin. But the exhibition is so special and exciting only about the handful of decades of the Surrealism in the 20th century, that this is not common to the mainstream of galleries and museums in the world. But the exhibition rooms itself is amazing architecture and together with the nice shop and restaurant it will make your visit full of fun and happiness. For all the visitors who are not so interested in the special Surrealism there is another very fine and exciting museum, just on the opposite site of the street: the Bergengruen collection ... or the Schloss Charlottenburg which has also a very famous picture gallery of Romanticism, you will enjoy also the beautiful landscape architecture around the castle ... all is to much for one weekend. Enjoy it more times!"
