"It is the oldest secular building in Görlitz. The history of the plot on which it stands dates back to the city's founding. The adjacent "Eberhards Turm" tower was demolished in 1426. At the end of the 14th century, the building was used as a brewery, and later served as a school for decades, and as a residence for mayors and judges. Currently, it houses the Monument Academy, an educational institution of the German Foundation for Monument Conservation. It also houses the Training Center for Crafts and Monument Conservation. The association offers numerous courses and opportunities for further training for conservators from various fields."

"The oldest house in Goerlitz. I could stop there, but it's impossible to simply bypass it, as its silhouette, distinctive color, and proximity to the city's largest attraction, the Peterskirche, make it worth a longer visit. Since its inception, it has undergone numerous renovations, as evidenced by the eastern façade—clearly visible are remnants of Gothic windows from various periods of construction. The building's ash-gray color, as well as the distinctive gables crowning the roof, are the result of a 1990 restoration that restored its Gothic character. Various inscriptions can be found on the wall of the Waidhaus, including one announcing a fire and the existence of a municipal school on the site. During the construction of the Church of St. Peter and Paul, it served as a residence for the builders and architects working on the site. Later, the Waidhaus was used as a storage facility for the dyeing of madder, also known as "waid," hence the name. Today, it houses an institute dedicated to the restoration and conservation of the city's architectural heritage, as well as numerous monuments belonging to the municipal museum. It's impossible to miss it or miss it. The best way to see it is from up close!"
