"The Church of Saint John the Baptist in the village of Grainau.
Located at 758 meters at the foothill of Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze.
The village with it's 3500 inhabitants was first mention in 1305 under the name 'Gruenawa' which changed into Grainau and means 'Green Meadows'.
The Baroque style church was first built in 1697, burnt down, rebuilt, enlarged over this period of 300 years. It is a majestic structure with the classic 'Onion roof' church tower which is common in this Bavarian area. Inside you find a painting showing 'Maria walking in the Mountains'"
