"The counter area is small but that’s no problem because you can go out to the garden where there are many tables and chairs to sit down and enjoy their drinks.
The garden is fairly quiet and it’s got a really nice view."

"Beautiful place but the young blonde waitress extremely unfriendly! Never experienced such an unfriendly waitress in the whole city. From the start she was unfriendly.
I asked for the small spoon of milk so I could add it to espresso. She took the money for it and told me, I should have ordered coffee with milk then. For 1 small spoon of milk such a big philosophy! Simply can’t recommend the place until they change the waitress. The older waitress was professional and friendly."
Virna Bozovic
"Amazing place with relaxing atmosphere. They have matcha latte! And it’s good 😍 The attention was also on point. I will recommend this cafe to everybody who lives in Ingolstadt for sure!"

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
The History and Purpose of Apothecary Gardens
These gardens were crucial for the development of medicine, allowing practitioners to have direct access to the raw materials for their treatments. The knowledge of which plants possessed healing properties was passed down through generations, often through written texts and practical experience. The cultivation of specific plants like chamomile, lavender, and rosemary became commonplace, as their therapeutic benefits were well-documented. Some gardens even focused on rarer or more potent herbs, requiring specialized knowledge to grow and prepare.
Today, apothecary gardens serve a dual role: they are educational spaces that teach visitors about the historical and contemporary uses of medicinal plants, and they continue to be sources for research and conservation. They offer a unique glimpse into the intersection of botany, history, and health, reminding us of the enduring power of nature's pharmacy. The Apothecary Garden you visit likely continues this legacy, showcasing a curated collection of plants with therapeutic properties.
Cultivating Your Own Apothecary Garden
When planning your garden, consider sunlight requirements, soil type, and water needs for each plant. Group plants with similar growing conditions together. For example, lesser celandine thrives in damp, shady spots, while rosemary prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Don't forget to include plants like Artemisia annua (Sweet Annie) for immune support, as highlighted by some gardeners.
Beyond just planting, consider how you'll use your herbs. Many can be dried for teas, tinctures, or salves. Some, like pineapple sage, add flavor to culinary creations. Growing an apothecary garden is a rewarding way to connect with nature and harness the healing power of plants right at home.
