"A wonderful small Rhine side town with lovely old buildings with a distinct style. The people here are very friendly, often greeting you and smiling when you pass. I’ve only experienced this a few times in Germany.
Great place for good food and a great Eis dessert. Nice day trip from Bonn or Cologne. Would definitely come again. Also very cycle friendly along the Rhine and dog friendly."

"A washed out Day Trip to Linz am Rhein & Drachenburg
Travel can be so enlightening and fun but also at times challenging to the core!
Yesterday we opted for a day trip to Linz am Rhein, a truly picturesque city about an hours drive from Köln.
Unfortunately because of the High Waters, (Hochwasser) flooding made this trip a bit of a hunt, as most roads were kinda blocked intermittently and access was finally not possible!
Amazing to see the Rhein River so bloated, unreal, and a reflection of today’s Climate challenges.
We next tried to drive up to the Drachen Fels, (Dragon’s Mountain) but also not possible as we found out that the access was via private road needing permission, something no Google or GPS tells you!
Oh well after 3 hours trying to get where we couldn’t we finally packed up & returned as the glorious weather from earlier had turned and it was less then pleasant!
We realised, we are tropics proofed, but not necessarily winter proofed! 🤣🤣🤣

"The square is fronted by the large town hall and is surrounded on the historical houses with interesting architecture and facades. The market square has also a bronze council fountain by the Aachen artist Bonifatius Stirnberg."
