Kunst Haus Wien was designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser and today houses the museum of this visionary artist and a beautiful café The building itself is a piece of art and Hundertwasser defined Kunst Haus Wien as “a stronghold against the false order of the straight line, a bastion against the grid system and the chaos of nonsense.” 🖤 #vienna #viennathingstodo #viennaaustria

The Haus der Kunst, beside the English Gardens in Munich. Built during the Third Reich and still serves as an art gallery shrouded by a grove of trees.

I went to an AI Wei Wei exhibit there about 10 years ago. It was wonderful to see this building in that context. The rooms are massive and the ceiling height is incredible. It was just perfect.

Munich's art galeries

Hi everyone. I'm (28F) going to visit Munich for the first time in the mid-january. Do you have any recommendation on which places to visit? I'm thinking about the ESO Supernova, the Pinakothek der Modern, and Brandhorst since I love modern and contemporary art. Is there…

While some find the layout and user experience could be improved, the art itself and the insights gained from guided tours are frequently praised. "It was an okay visit overall — I’ve been to other art museums that offered a better-curated experience. The layout and user experience could definitely be improved to make it more engaging and easier to navigate. That said, it still had some interesting exhibits and is worth a visit if you’re nearby. Tip: if you’re a student, don’t forget to bring your ID — the entry fee is only €5 with a valid student card, which is a nice bonus."

"Haus der Kunst is a museum Munich. While its history alone is interesting, the art inside is spectacular. Large installations often made specifically for the space is often powerful, poetic and moving. The recent exhibit by Philippe Parreno - Voices was no exception. The best part about the visit to Haus der Kunst was the guided tour. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided insights that enriched the overall experience. Check the website for available tours (some are even in English). One of the city’s most renowned bar / restaurants - die Goldene Bar - is also located there. Excellent drinks and quality food await guests who can dine indoors or outside on a terrace overlooking the Isar River. Highly recommend visit to Haus der Kunst… take your time and enjoy"

"Aus für Kunst has once again demonstrated its role as a vital force in contemporary culture with the decision to host its latest exhibition. Though the title of the show may slip from memory, its impact certainly does not. This exhibition affirms the institution’s unwavering commitment to bold, boundary-pushing programming that doesn’t just reflect the current moment—but helps define it.

What stands out most is the curatorial courage behind this choice. Aus für Kunst continues to prove that it is not afraid to engage with challenging themes, emerging voices, or unconventional formats. The selection of works invites viewers into a space of thoughtful provocation and creative possibility, and it is clear that the institution values both artistic integrity and cultural relevance.

Moreover, the execution—spatial, conceptual, and experiential—is seamlessly aligned with the gallery’s ethos. Visitors are encouraged to reflect, question, and converse, which is precisely what an art space of this caliber should inspire. Aus für Kunst’s decision to present this exhibition is not only timely—it is necessary.

In a cultural landscape that often plays it safe, Aus für Kunst’s leadership in presenting this show is a refreshing reminder of what a forward-thinking art institution can and should be. We are lucky to have it."
