What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
SEA LIFE Munich is a charming, family-friendly aquarium within Olympiapark, praised for its engaging underwater tunnel and friendly staff. While some find it a bit small for the price, it offers a pleasant and educational experience, especially for those celebrating birthdays or visiting with children. Planning ahead for crowds and booking tickets online can enhance the visit.
"We visited on my girlfriend’s birthday, which was a great deal since entrance is free on that day! At the counter, the staff even asked her to roll a little wheel/game and she won a voucher for a hot drink — a nice surprise and a thoughtful touch.
The aquarium itself is clearly designed as a family attraction, with plenty for kids to enjoy. If you prefer a quieter visit to really take your time observing the species, it’s best to avoid weekends or school holidays when it can get crowded.
One thing to note: there is no baggage storage at Sealife. However, on the way there you can leave your bags at the BMW Welt basement, which has free digital lockers with 4-digit codes, accessible during opening hours. Very convenient if you’re traveling with luggage.
That said, without discounts, the ticket price feels a bit steep considering the size of the aquarium. It’s relatively small and the variety is somewhat limited — focusing more on freshwater and river species rather than larger sea animals. Don’t expect to see octopus, whales, or big jellyfish here.
Overall, it’s a pleasant experience, especially for families with children, but for the price, I had hoped for a broader range of marine life."

"SEA LIFE München, located inside Olympiapark, is a small but charming aquarium that offers a nice experience, especially for families and those interested in marine life. While the location is a bit far from the train station, it’s still accessible, and the walk through the Olympic Park adds a pleasant touch to the journey.
The aquarium itself is compact, but it features a variety of interesting marine exhibits, including sharks, rays, and colorful fish. The highlight is the underwater tunnel, where visitors can walk through and see sea creatures swimming all around them. Though not as large or expansive as some other aquariums, the exhibits are well-curated, and the space feels welcoming.
Despite its smaller size, SEA LIFE München is a fun, educational stop, especially if you’re already in the area visiting the park. It’s not the largest or most impressive aquarium, but it offers a nice and family-friendly experience with a good range of sea life. If you’re looking for a quick, relaxing visit to enjoy some aquatic life, it’s definitely worth checking out."

"EXCELLENT SEA LIFE! We met a lovely employee, Motte, who gave us some great information about the exhibits, especially the sharks. All of the staff were great with our group of 11. I got to see babies of my favourite fish here. 10/10 would recommend"
