What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Itanos Beaches are praised for their stunning natural beauty, crystal-clear waters, and the unique combination of ancient ruins. Visitors love the secluded, uncrowded atmosphere and the opportunity for snorkeling. However, the lack of facilities and the presence of nudist visitors are points to note.
"After from Vai Beach. We find this hidden gem. No one is there but just the two of us swimming. No tourist there. But a little later some tourist come for hiking not for swimming and to my surprise a food truck also came …. It’s funny but real. Water incredibly clear crystal. No water for shower no umbrella or beach chair. So pure like no one knows that beach. Easy access and parking. Walking to the beach on the dirt path but easy walk. Totally makes our day swimming there!!! Will come again definitely ❤️"

"Nice beach with a few Cretan Date Palm trees and overlooked by the ruins of Itanos Acropolis
- Beach taken over by the nudist tourists who have stuck up a sign - still not officially legal to do this in Crete especially in such an important area archaeologically which is attracting locals and other tourists"

"Quite a drive from Sitia but well worth it. Whereas Sitia was overcast and windy this beach was sheltered and sunny. Gently shelving, yellow sand with hardly a ripple. Amazing clear water, golden sandy beach, right next to an archaeological site. Almost deserted beach but then we did visit at the end of May. Parking easy but no facilities so take a picnic and stay all day."
