The accessibility via car or ATV and the free admission are major pluses. While the lighthouse itself is often closed, the scenery and photo opportunities are unparalleled, especially at sunrise and sunset. Some note the strong winds and narrow roads as factors to consider.
"There are usually not such an accessible lighthouses around the world but this one is well worth visiting. I made my trip with car here on sunrise so basically there was no one else than myself. There is a parking lot with enough spaces to park and then just slight one minute walk towards the lighthouse and enjoy the scenery. Road there is fine, just about 15minutes away from Mykonos town, many places to stop by and enjoy the views including churches, horses or panorama photo stops. Do this in the morning and you won’t regret."

The Iconic Armenistis Lighthouse
Its elevated position atop a steep hill offers unparalleled vantage points. Visitors often describe feeling a sense of awe as they take in the vast expanse of the Aegean, with the curvature of the earth seemingly visible on clear days. The surrounding landscape is rugged and beautiful, adding to the dramatic atmosphere of the location. It’s a place that inspires reflection and appreciation for both nature’s grandeur and human endeavors.
Many visitors choose to rent ATVs or cars to reach the lighthouse, enjoying the scenic drive that winds through the island's landscape. The journey itself can be part of the adventure, with opportunities to stop at other viewpoints along the way. The experience is often described as peaceful and rewarding, especially when visited during the quieter hours of the day.
Capturing the Perfect Shot
When framing your shots, consider the lighthouse's position relative to the sea and sky. Experiment with different angles – from wide-angle vistas showcasing the entire panorama to tighter shots focusing on the lighthouse's architectural details. The winding road leading up to the lighthouse can also be incorporated into your photos to add a sense of depth and perspective.
Remember to be prepared for the wind, which can add a dynamic element to your photos, perhaps by creating motion blur in the sea or adding texture to the clouds. A tripod can be invaluable for capturing sharp images during low-light conditions or for creating intentional motion blur effects.
Navigating the Journey
Many visitors highlight the enjoyment of the drive, describing it as a fun experience. However, it's important to be aware that these roads can be challenging, especially for those not accustomed to driving in such conditions. If you're planning to visit for sunset, factor in potential traffic and the time it takes to find parking, as the roads can become busy.
Upon arrival, you'll find a parking area, and it's just a short walk to the lighthouse itself. The accessibility is generally good, but the terrain can be uneven in places. The lack of an entrance fee and free parking make it an accessible attraction for all visitors.
