What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the eclectic mix of goods at Monastiraki Flea Market, calling it a treasure trove for unique souvenirs, vintage finds, and antiques. The lively atmosphere and the opportunity to haggle are definite highlights. However, some find it can get overwhelmingly crowded, especially on Sundays, and advise caution regarding personal belongings.
"Street-life with colours, calls, aromas and sounds to stimulate the senses. It's a great place to wander. You'll see all the expected touristy stuff, plenty of opportunities for gift shopping, and the odd different place to catch your eye, like the used records store or second hand clothing. We were there in the early evening and it was busy but not overcrowded. Don't go there to shop on purpose or with a specific item in mind. Go to see what you can find and be surprised by."

"Here is one of the most popular tourist section in Athene. Now it becomes like tourist street. But there are still some flea and antique shops! You need to visit here as it is so famous and the aisles are lovely. However you would be little bit disappointed as most of shops are for tourist. Hard to feel some local or authentic vibe."

"A fun and vibrant place to buy a souvenir or two. There are plenty of restaurants serving delicious greek food and thirst quenching drinks. Some of the restaurants have toe tapping live music. A lovely place to while away a few hours with an awesome view of the Acropolis, especially at night."
