What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Chiona Beach is praised for its pristine, clear waters and family-friendly shallow areas, offering a more local and untouched experience. While some visitors note the presence of rocky patches and the need to bring personal beach gear, the overall sentiment is positive, highlighting its tranquility and natural beauty.
"The perfect beach for a relaxing swim or family day. This is a sponsored beach so water is tested and beach area is clean. It is shallow for a good distance but rocky in some areas. No chairs or umbrellas so bring your own or hang out in the shade by the few trees. Has showers and toilets. If you’re hungry there are a few taverns with good prices. More of a locals beach because of the no chairs or umbrellas but also could be better because may not be as busy or as expensive with just the same beach fun."

"It is a beautiful beach that can be reached in a short 30 minutes by walking from the center of Palekastro. It is also easily accessible by car and there is a parking lot just behind the beach. This is a quieter place as Vai Beach is more popular in the area. If you are looking for calmness, you can choose this beach. I recommend that you do not expect too much. There are restaurants, changing cabins and toilets on the beach.
If you walk to the beach from Palekastro, I think you will enjoy the road surrounded by olive trees. Also on the road to the beach is Palaikastro Minoan Town. I recommend you to visit this archeological point where the wonderful Minoan statuette named Palaikastro Kouros was unearthed."
