never fails to give me chills.. for context: The oracle of Apollo at Delphi was perhaps the most famous of the Greek oracles. It was known throughout the Greek and Hellenistic world. It continued to exist in Roman times, doubtless in a somewhat artificially preserved way.  But Apollo ceased to speak to men as Christianity took hold, just as the other oracles also fell silent: a lot of pagan temple...

A unesco world heritage site in Delphi - The archaeological site of Delphi is a mesmerizing and truly picturesque site that is loved by history bluffs and insta influencers alike. This site dates back to 1400 BC and is considered to be omphalos (the literal center/ navel of the world). A perfect day trip from Athens. Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Delphi Archaeological Site for its profound historical significance, breathtaking mountain scenery, and the impressive collection of artifacts in its museum. Many highlight the spiritual atmosphere and the awe-inspiring scale of the ancient sanctuary. However, some find the journey from Athens to be long and tiring for a day trip, and advise planning for the site's hilly terrain.

"A wonderful little museum.
The rich history of the site is well displayed in an ordered museum. We visited on a Wednesday at about midday. The museum was very busy, in particular the tour groups which whizzed through were cramming the whole place up. These should really be limited in size.
Some really great pieces are in the museum and we both really enjoyed it.
Highly recommended."

Drew Young

"Lots to see, varying degrees of difficulty great for individuals with wide range of physical capabilities, and must have a good knowledgeable guide to bring the site to life. Little known fact, a landslide in the last few years has made the area around and access to the Athena temple a restricted no entry area. However, there are plenty of amazing views and spaces to rest in the shade that allows you to soak it all up."

Dana Van Eyck

"The museum was nice and interesting, even though it is quite small. The outdoor area is highly recommended, although climbing all the steps can be a bit tiring. There are many great things to see, such as the different theaters!"
