"What a great little gem. We got there just after 9am on a Thursday and there were only a handful of other people already so it was not busy at all and you could easily enjoy a hot bath.
The journey down to the spring and back up can be a bit of a trek as it's quite rocky and sandy so make sure you're wearing comfortrable shoes but the views on your way in are great."

"The tooth and nothing else! It is a wonderful location. We walked from Fokas up the hill due to the bus schedule. The distance is approximately 3 kilometers. The descent from the top, where the restaurant is located, is manageable, although the gravel is somewhat loose. The pool, where the spring is situated, is small but still offers ample space. The water has a slight smell of eggs 🥚, but it is not overwhelming. The spring water is hot 😉, making the transition from the hot spring to the cold sea quite enjoyable. The goats are delightful; be sure to bring a few apples for them. You can also receive a full body massage 💆♂️ for 20 euros, which my partner described as excellent quality 👌 and very affordable. The bus schedules vary, but most buses depart from Kos Town on the hour, taking approximately 25 minutes to reach the destination, which may be helpful."

"The best time to visit is first thing on a morning. Take wet shoes with you for in the water and trainers for the walk down the hill. Take a snorkel too as loads of fish. The water is hotter than you think. It's free, natural however not toilets. It's nice and tidy. Support the local business in the car park also. Parking is free and is safe."

The Natural Phenomenon of Empros Therma
The journey to the springs is part of the experience. Visitors often describe a scenic, albeit rocky, walk down to the cove. This trek requires sturdy footwear, as the path can be uneven and sandy. The visual contrast between the rugged coastline and the inviting blue of the sea adds to the allure. It's a place where nature's raw beauty is on full display, offering a truly unique and rejuvenating escape from the everyday.
While the springs themselves are the main draw, the surrounding area also offers opportunities for interaction with local wildlife. Friendly goats are known to frequent the vicinity, and visitors often bring them small treats like apples. This adds a charming, unexpected element to the visit, making it memorable for all ages. Remember that this is a natural site with no facilities, so come prepared with all your essentials.
Practicalities for Your Visit
What to pack is also essential. Sturdy walking shoes or trainers are a must for the rocky and sandy path. Once at the springs, water shoes are highly recommended to protect your feet from the sharp seabed. Don't forget a towel, swimwear, and plenty of water to stay hydrated. Since there are no facilities, bring any snacks or drinks you might need.
Finally, respect the natural environment. Therma Hot Springs is a free, natural attraction. While there are local businesses at the top offering parking and refreshments, the springs themselves are undeveloped. Leave no trace, and enjoy this unique natural spa responsibly. The experience is often described as 'marmite' – you'll either love its raw, natural charm or find the sulfur smell and rocky terrain challenging.
