What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Kritsa Gorge for its stunning natural beauty, dramatic limestone cliffs, and engaging hiking trails that offer a sense of adventure. The loop routes are appreciated for their varied scenery, and many find it a rewarding experience. However, some note that the trail can be more challenging than 'easy' due to rock scrambling and rope sections, and parking can be limited.
"Nice scenic loop for some morning activity. We hike frequently and did the trail in 1hr 15min in running shoes. About half of the trail is shaded. Arrived at 10am and found parking on the road. Note that the drive up to the gorge entrance is a long, narrow, windy road."

"Lovely hike up a dry stream bed, lined with pink oleanders; for the moderately fit. There are two loops you can do, the shorter one up the gorge and after some 1.8 km up the hill following the yellow markers, and the longer one: up the gorge all the way up to the tributary entering from the left (some 3.6 km); you can turn back here or turn around ant the gate with the yellow sign and walk up the hill on the northern side of the gorge (follow the red markers). Both loops bring you back to the car park down the ancient Minoan path. Stunning scenery, lots of all kinds of wildlife."
Mateusz Jochym
"Good hiking, not crowded, parking places are limited by the side road, but finding place was not a problem. Longer loop of around 6 km can take up to 3 hours with moderate pace. The first 1.5 km or so are the most interesting, but scenery varies if you take longer loop. Have at least light hiking shoes and lots of vater for hydration. Farmers installed some high wire fences across the track but in many instances you can find improvised gates."
