Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Margarites Village for its authentic pottery heritage and the warmth of its artisans. Many highlight the passion of families like Maria and her father at Gallios, who share their craft with genuine enthusiasm. While the village offers a wealth of unique, handmade ceramics, some find that certain shops lean towards more 'cutesy' tourist items rather than fine art.

"We had the most welcoming visit at Maria and her father. Maria told us with great passion about her work and her father’s legacy. Thanks! We will visit again."

Marijn Dijker

"We had a beautiful time at the Gallios/Galliou studio visiting with the owner and his daughter Maria. They are both artisans in their own right with Costas making very large ancient tradition pots for olive oil and Maria making architecturally fine pieces that involve carving and the use of light. Maria is a gentle delight and we enjoyed most of an afternoon with them, talking, sharing, and learning. In contrast to the many shops in Margarites, their work is done with fine detail, rich glazes, and appeals to the collector of art rather than the "cutesy" tourist items that we found in town. I now have a graceful ceramics bowl on my dresser thanks to Maria!"

Karah Thompson

"I love this pottery shop we were there in June. One of the items I bought fell and broke I am looking for an emails for the owner so I can have a replacement purchased and shipped. If the owner sees this pls reply with your email or social media page. Thanks so much!!!"
