What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Patsos Gorge is a highly rewarding hike for active individuals and families, praised for its stunning scenery, challenging yet manageable terrain, and unique cave sanctuary. While some find the water levels low in summer, the shaded path and refreshing opportunities make it a memorable Cretan adventure.
"This has so far been our family’s favorite hike in Crete. We took our very active 11 and 13 yo with us and they loved it. It took us an hour each way and was 4 mi total round trip to the reservoir and back. Make sure you follow the “south end” trail markings. It is a much clearer path than the “north end”. This hike is difficult. It requires all 4 extremities but delivers in views, fauna and scenery. Definitely worth the effort."

"My husband and I visited with an excursion from our cruise ship. I would recommend this with good tread. We enjoyed this hike and saw the church in a cave and made it to the first viewpoint which is a great view of a gorge. It is beautiful to hike and very shaded for most of the hike. There is a spot with picnic tables but many of them were covered in bird poop. There is also a fresh water fountain. Not for drinking but good to cool off with. The water was very cold."

"Fun hike, the start is easy and mostly flat, the second part is more adventurous but very well equipped with ropes and ladders. We took our time and made it to the end in 1 hour and then back the same way 1 hour. The viewpoint is beautiful and worth the extra effort. Recommend to go there in the morning to hike from 10am to noon."
