What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Acropolis of Thassos for its breathtaking panoramic sea views and impressive ancient ruins, despite ongoing reconstruction. The challenging hike or drive adds to the adventure, with many recommending sturdy shoes and a 4x4 for access. The golden hour is highlighted as a particularly magical time to visit.
"You can get here on foot from the town of Thassos. 20-30 minutes up a steep path.
You can also get there by car if you want, BUT !! The road is narrow, unpaved, lots of sharp rocks, steep climb and there is little parking space at the top, if you are allowed to park (if there are works going on there at the moment, then most likely you will have to go down 100 meters and park your car somewhere along the road). It is advisable to have a car with 4x4 to be sure.
The Acropolis itself is currently undergoing reconstruction, it is impressive. The view of the sea is stunning. The location for it was chosen brilliantly. You can sit on the benches and just look at the bay and the sea.
If you go up the path about 200 meters, you can take photos of the surroundings from a higher point."

"Different location than ancient theater. The path is a bit rocky and unmarked. The view from the top is breathtaking."

"Good to see.
There are still ongoing renovations there, but you can enjoy it, and also to receive information for it and instructions what else you can visit nearby. The lady there was very polite."
