My seventh trip to Greenland was magical. Uummannaq and Ilulissat March 2023. Ask away in the comments

Please ask any questions about Greenland. I highly recommend it for people that enjoy adventure travel off the beaten path. I am a solo female, semi pro photographer that has been seven times and I will continue to go to the remote places as long as I can afford to.

Suggestions for things to do in Upernavik and Uummannaq

Edit: I have made an executive decision to scrap Uummannaq and Upernavik for this trip. Upernavik is not yet developed for tourist activities and Uummannaq is out of the way. Instead, the new plan is to spend 2-3 weeks in Qaanaaq and 2 weeks in Ittoqqortoormiit. It’s my dream…

Reviews Summary

Visitors often recall Uummannaq with deep affection, cherishing childhood memories and the town's unique, serene beauty. The stunning natural landscapes, particularly the iconic mountain and icebergs, leave a lasting impression. While the remote nature offers tranquility, it also means limited services and requires careful planning.

"I was a child in Umanak in 1966-1968.
Only lived there for 2 years, but the most wonderful childhood years and I am still moved when I see the pictures from there.
My father worked in KGH. , sat in the office, my mother went home and we 4 children went to school there.
The memories come flooding back. Lived further up Sanatorievej and had our lovely dogs.
Lovely memories."
