Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Inner City Parish Church Budapest for its deep historical significance, particularly its status as the oldest church in Pest and the rare inclusion of an Ottoman mihrab. Many appreciate the serene atmosphere and the opportunity to experience live organ music. However, some find the exterior less ornate than other Budapest landmarks, and information on specific opening hours or access to certain areas can sometimes be unclear.

"Pretty cool. Can see some Roman building as the base of the church.
Cool info dotted around too.
Elevator was broken when I went so prepare to get dizzy walking up the winding stairs"

"A beautiful church with almost a thousand years of history (even older if you count the Roman ruins beneath the church). The church is filled with intricate carvings and statues, as well as previous murals and artifacts. You can go beneath the church into the crypts and take an elevator to go up the tower."

Andy Z

"This place was built on the site of a roman fortress; you can see the ruins of this through the floor window in the Nave.
The Church itself has lots of interesting features, one of the highlights is the 14th century fresco of the Madonna exhibited in the ambulatory and only discovered a few years ago. There are a number of ornate altars along the Aisles. The Crypt contains a Chapel and you can see more of the Roman remains here.
A very good leaflet, available in English, provides a great guide to the key features of this Church.
The Tower is also included in the ticket price and accessible by lift or stairs. But it's not that high and doesn't really provide panoramic views of the city. However you get a good view of the roof timbers from the gallery.
So don't come for the Tower, come for the Crypt and the Church interior."
