What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are consistently impressed by the Museum of Ethnography Budapest's stunning, avant-garde architecture and its expansive rooftop garden offering beautiful city views. While the building itself is a major draw, the ethnographic collections provide valuable insights into Hungarian culture and global traditions. Some find the ticket prices a bit high, and occasional issues with temporary exhibition accessibility are noted.
"The ticket to enter main exhibition isn’t cheap but there are so many exhibits you will need a lot of time to enjoy of their beauty. For me as a foreigner who love Hungary it is a proof the real Hungary is outside Budapest. Hungarian folklore and cousin is more visible on the countryside of Hungary. The staff is very nice and also I love the architecture of the building. With awesome rooftop."
Jacek Mirek
"This building is truly remarkable, showcasing impressive architecture and thoughtful integration into its surroundings, accommodating the long-time standing memorial of 1956, and having an outstanding garden structure. Inside, there's a captivating museum that is well-curated, offering an engaging introduction to Hungarian folk heritage through intriguing stories and beautifully displayed artifacts as part of the permanent exhibition. I noticed that all explanatory notes are in Hungarian, with a barcode providing access to English content. The museum was nearly empty during my visit, however I believe it definitely worth a visit."
Nora Rozsnyai
"A very modern museum! The exhibition is well-constructed and, in addition to beautiful artifacts, addresses the issue of exhibition design itself! Definitely the most interesting museum I've visited in Budapest."
