What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Jim Corbett Museum in Kaladhungi to be a historically significant site, offering a glimpse into the personal life of the legendary conservationist. While some appreciate the well-maintained residence and park, others feel the ₹100 entry fee is steep for the limited exhibits. It's best visited with an understanding of its focus on personal history rather than extensive artifacts.
"The Jim Corbett Museum in Kaladhungi is a nice place to visit if you’re interested in history, wildlife conservation, or the life of Jim Corbett himself. Located in his former home, the museum provides a calm, heritage-like atmosphere that takes you back in time. The place is surrounded by greenery, and the overall setting feels peaceful and fitting for a personality who dedicated his life to nature and wildlife.
Inside the museum, you’ll find a collection of photographs, letters, personal belongings, and detailed information about Corbett’s contributions. The exhibits give a good overview of his journey, his relationship with the people of Kumaon, and his efforts toward wildlife protection. For anyone curious about his legacy, the museum is definitely informative and meaningful.
However, the ticket price of ₹100 for adults felt a bit on the expensive side, especially considering the museum is relatively small and the number of exhibits is limited. While the information displayed is interesting, the overall experience doesn’t fully justify the cost. A slightly lower entry fee would make it more accessible and fair for visitors.
That said, the museum remains an important landmark and offers valuable insights into the life of a man who played a key role in shaping wildlife conservation in India. If you’re passing through Kaladhungi or heading toward Corbett, it’s worth a quick visit—just don’t expect a very large or elaborate museum."

"Nice place to stop but narrative around Corbett should be placed in the context of colonial history.
The home and surrounding garden are adequately maintained but are sparse. The gift shop has interesting pieces. The Rs. 100 entry fee is too high for the quality of the displays. The high fee would also be a barrier against locals coming here. Given Corbett's beliefs on social equity this fee should be reconsidered at least for local residents."

"The first thing I want to mention here is that this museum is different from the Dhangarhi Museum. In Dhangadhi, the museum is especially good to visit with kids, and you can find there real skin of tigers, leopards, and elephants showcased.
Here in the Jim Corbett Museum, this is the winter residence of Col. Jim Corbett, which is now converted into a museum. Here you can see some of his crockery, his furniture, and a camera obscura used by Corbett. The house is well maintained and clean.
There is a souvenir shop where some textiles, keychains, and books written by Corbett are also available. You can see the grave of his two dogs who stayed with him while hunting.
The price of ticket is 100 per person and free for kids."
