Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Neelkanth Mahadev Temple for its profound peace, spiritual energy, and historical significance, set against the backdrop of the Aravalli hills. The adventurous off-road drive is a highlight for many, though the challenging final stretch requires a suitable vehicle. Its uncommercialized nature is a major draw, offering a serene escape.

"Neelkanth Mahadev Temple near Sariska is one of the most peaceful and spiritually charged places I’ve ever visited. Tucked away in the Aravalli hills, the temple is over a thousand years old and still holds strong despite being surrounded by ancient ruins. The route to the temple is an off-road drive through dense forest—perfect for those who enjoy a little adventure before reaching a sacred space.

The temple complex has intricate carvings on the pillars and walls, many of which are still intact and breathtakingly beautiful. There’s a strong sense of history here, with the remains of over 200 temples scattered across the hilltop, adding to the mystery and charm. The silence, broken only by birds and the wind, creates a deeply meditative atmosphere.

It’s not commercialized or crowded, which makes it even more special. No shops or eateries around, so do carry your own water and essentials. The drive is rough and requires a good vehicle—preferably an SUV—but the views and the experience are absolutely worth it.

A perfect day trip for history lovers, spiritual seekers, nature enthusiasts, and offbeat travelers. Visiting this ancient Shiva temple surrounded by untouched nature feels like stepping back in time. Highly recommended if you’re in Alwar or doing the Sariska circuit. A hidden gem in Rajasthan!"

"This is an ASI-protected zone, and the road from Alwar is mostly in good condition. However, there is a tricky 2 km stretch before the uphill drive with no proper road surface—potholes, rubble, and cobblestones make it difficult to navigate. The area can only be accessed by bike due to the narrow road.
Once you complete the uphill drive, the view looking downhill is absolutely amazing. There is another small area past the entry gate where the road is currently under repair. If it is raining, it’s best to avoid this trip and visit a few days later once the roadwork is completed.
Also, it’s recommended to visit this place before sunset as the only source of light on the road back will be your bike headlights, and there is a good stretch passing through the jungle that should be avoided in the dark.
The two main attractions here are an ancient Shiva temple and a Jain monument, which is accessible after a 10-minute walk."
