What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sarpduli Forest Rest House offers a deeply immersive nature experience, praised for its serene location and abundant wildlife. While amenities are basic and solar power limits evening light, visitors appreciate the tranquility and proximity to the Ramganga River. The staff are noted as cooperative, and the canteen provides simple, delicious food. It's ideal for those seeking an authentic jungle stay over luxury.
"We went there in mid May. The place runs completely on solar energy. The cooks are very cooperative and happy to help. One can not expect great hospitality in such remote places. The love for wild life and forest dominates the other feelings, when in such places. Odomos is a must. Take lots of water bottles and food along. Safari jeeps are booked at the time if room booking itself. This FRH is small and a bit secluded adding to its charm but Dhikala is more picturesque and busy."

"This place is awesome for those who love to be in nature and love adventure. We stayed in 3-bedded dormitory, which has toilet and bathroom outside. Dormitory was clean for forest guest house standard. Food is available at rest hiuse. They prepare and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food options are few though, but food was is delicious. Don't expect anything like hotel or resturant. Place doesn't have electricity but runs on solar power. Basically no lights in evening. But it's becuase of it's natural settings that the place is amazing. Banganga river flows very close from this river."

"I'm writing this review in the second last week of March 2021. As of now there are 2 rooms (with attached washrooms) in New Forest rest House (FRH), which probably were constructed or renovated during COVID-19 period. You may book one or both rooms through Corbett official website depending on their availability. One room is on ground floor, while you have to take stairs to get into the second room (see image). I was allotted the first floor room. There is no provision for extra bed in the first floor room (not sure about ground floor room). The rooms and attached washrooms are good and properly ventilated. There is no fan/cooler/ac in the room. The only drawback is that there is water drainage problem in the washroom. You have to use a wiper to drain the water from washroom. Western style seat is installed in the washroom. Water supply is 24X7 but sometimes the overhead water tanks run out of water. You just need to inform the housekeeping team & they turn on the motor to fill the overhead water tank. The staff is good & humble.
These New rooms are available close to Sarapduli entry gate. The dinning hall/room is at around 200 to 250 meters(approx.) from these rooms. You have to walk to the dining room for dinner or lunch. Unlike last few decades, now there is a canteen available where you will get Maggie, bread-omelet & Parathas (depends on availability) & you don't need to carry ration with you.
Carry a torch if you are booking room in Sarapduli. Don't forget to keep 2 bottles of drinking water in your room before you go to sleep.
There is one dormitory available with 3 beds (max.) which is close to the kitchen. The washroom is outside for the dormitory but connected to the same structure.
The original structure, which I think belongs to the British era, has 02 (two) rooms, with attached washrooms and a dinning room. The kitchen that serves the New FRH & Dormitory is in the same block. However these rooms are not available for online booking and are reserved for Forest officials and or VIPs (the colonial culture is still prominent). I learnt that if you have good connections you may be able to get these rooms (I may be wrong though). This entire campus is secured by electrical fencing which is turned on after sunset."

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
It's important to manage expectations: this is not a resort. The focus is on the natural experience. The canteen provides simple meals, but having extra food items is a good idea. The limited electricity means early nights, which can be a blessing for kids. The proximity to nature and the thrill of being in a forest reserve can create lasting memories for the whole family.

The basic amenities and solar power are part of the charm, allowing for a more authentic jungle experience. The proximity to the Ramganga River adds to the serene ambiance. The Sarpduli Experience: Nature Over Luxury
Wildlife encounters are a major draw. Herds of Cheetal deer are frequently spotted near the entrance, and the surrounding Saal forest is teeming with life. The Ramganga River flows nearby, providing a serene backdrop and a peaceful spot to relax. While the cooks are cooperative and happy to prepare meals, the food options are limited to what's available in the canteen, which typically serves simple dishes like Maggi, bread-omelets, and parathas. It's a place where the love for wildlife and the forest experience truly dominates.
Preparation is key for a comfortable stay. Pack essentials like insect repellent (Odomos is highly recommended), plenty of drinking water, and any personal snacks you might prefer. A torch is indispensable for navigating the premises after dark. While the 'New' rooms offer attached washrooms, some older facilities might have external bathrooms. Be prepared for minor inconveniences like water drainage issues in washrooms, which are part of the rustic charm of a forest guest house.
Navigating Corbett's Remote Stays
Understanding the amenities is vital. The reliance on solar power means limited lighting in the evenings. This isn't a place for late-night entertainment but rather for enjoying the sounds of the jungle under the stars. The canteen provides basic sustenance, but carrying extra food items is a wise precaution, especially if you have specific dietary preferences. The staff are generally described as humble and cooperative, willing to assist within the constraints of the remote location.
Safety and preparedness are paramount. The entire campus is often secured by electrical fencing after sunset, a necessary measure in a wildlife-rich area. Always follow the guidance of the forest staff and be aware of your surroundings. Carrying a torch and ensuring you have enough drinking water are simple yet critical steps for a safe and enjoyable stay.
