What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Jama Masjid Uparkot for its outstanding Islamic architecture and serene atmosphere, often discovering it as a hidden gem near Mahabat Maqbara. While the exterior views are highly appreciated, some visitors who didn't enter missed the full experience. Restoration efforts are noted, ensuring its preservation.
"Many Mosques were also namely Bara (Twelve) Shaid's Mosque, the Musafir Khana , the Chita khana Mosque with two ornate minarets, one other Mosque with single minarets, the Jumma Masjid ( Friday Mosque) etc where constructed.
Out of all, the Jumma Masjid is an outstanding example of Islamic architecture of that time and it was built by Shri Diwan Bahauddin Bhai in 1891-1896 CE. This Mosque displays architectural elements such as the onion - shaped domes, high doors, floral patterns, four minarets out of which only the front two minarets have spiral staircases which makes it attractive. At present , the Jumma Masjid is known as a prominent mosque in Junagadh City.
A walkable distance from the railway station to the district court , Jum'ah Masjid and Shri Nawab Mahabat khan- II Makbara & shri Bahauddin Bhai Makbara."

"Visited Nov 1028.
Frankly I did not know about this masjid. When I was at Mahabat Maqbara I happened to notice it. When you climb one of the minarets at the Vazir's Mausoleum, as you should, you get the best view of the masjid and it's roof. See attached pics. If I had the time, I would have entered the masjid. Only pics of the exterior attached.
EDIT Nov 2021.
Both Mahabat maqbara and this masjid are being restored. pic of the rear attached."
