Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Matangeeswarar Temple for its stunning Pallava-era architecture and exquisite sculptures, highlighting its historical significance and excellent ASI maintenance. While its hidden location and lack of signage are noted, the peaceful ambiance and unique artistic details make it a rewarding visit for history and art enthusiasts.

"A very beautiful and historic temple from the Pallava era dedicated to Lord Shiva as Madhangeeswarar, its sanctum holds both Shiva in the usual Linga form, as well as a sculpture with Parvati Devi seen in many Pallava temples such as the ones in Mamallapuram.

It has some exquisite sculptures and beautiful pillars, and is a beautiful and neatly maintained place. However, it is not very well known and needs to be accessed via a small gully off the main road. It’s good for a short visit from the bus stand."

Karthik Vatsavayi

"A very old and beautiful temple with unique sculptures. Elevated basement and unique panel of sculptures is heaven for temple lovers"

Ramkumar perumal

"One of oldest 165 Shivaling (sl.no.84) of Kanchipuram.

Very very old pallava period temple. Very well maintained by ASI.

It is our cultural treasure.

There is no signboard on outside. Please keep a big sign board of this temple."
