What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Kolleru Lake Bird Sanctuary for its serene natural beauty and abundant birdlife, especially during winter. The watchtower offers great views, and the small playground is a plus for families. However, the lack of amenities like restrooms and eateries is a common drawback, and some note the lake's reduced size compared to its past glory.
"Beautiful place! In 2024 I spotted flamingos from the watch tower. You could see Herons (Eg: Grey, white, purple etc.), Egrets (Great, cattle etc.), Storks (Painter, Open billed etc.,) Ibises (White, Black, purple etc), Pelicans, Stilts, Jakanas, Moor hens, Lap wings, Hoopies, Kingfishers (Spotted common and white throated) and many other smalls birds like wag tails and sparrows. There are benches to sit, a watch tower and a playground (Huge sand pit with slides, see-saw, swing and a merry-go-round). Ample space to park your car/bike. No toilets or eateries, understandably so as this not main steam location with lot of foot fall. It will be humid and as you soak in the beauty you will lose track of time, so pack some water and snacks for yourself."

* Better signage and informative displays: Providing clear signs and educational displays about the bird species and the ecosystem would greatly benefit visitors.
* Guided tours with expert naturalists: Offering guided tours led by knowledgeable naturalists could deepen visitors' understanding of the birds and the sanctuary's conservation efforts.
Conclusion
