Kumbakonam is lauded as a spiritual and historical gem, captivating visitors with its countless ancient temples and serene atmosphere. Travelers praise the rich Chola architecture, the unique spiritual vibrations, and the laid-back vibe of the town. However, some find the sheer number of temples overwhelming and navigating the narrow streets can be challenging.
"Visiting the fascinating Temples of Tamil Nadu for over a month Kumbakonam turned out to be our favourite place, wich will stay in our mind and heart for a long time! Why ?!? It’s not only because almost every squaremeter is soaked with history( esp. from the Chola Dynasty) and the countless but still very individuell temples literally footsteps apart, overall it‘s the peacefull and laid back atmosphere the town radiates ( as if unimpressed by its own historical and religious importance) that makes you want to stay here for more then one reason. "9 Kumbakonam local temples. We can visit from 6 AM to 1 PM in between... We need to engage in local transport as streets are very narrow... All temples are within 5 km distance only. I have uploaded the list of temples in Kumbakonam.
For Navagraha ( 9 temples ) we need to plan 1 or 2 days..
If we start by car in the morning at 5 am from Kumbakonam, we can cover by 9 pM and reach Kumbakonam... Or will cover in next day...
To visit Navagraha temples..please plan 2 days accordingly...

"A memorable experience. One should definitely visit Aadi Kumberswar, Airavatheswar,Dharasuram and Kashi viswanath temples in kumbakonam. Most of these temples built in black stones centuries back. Stil the architectural is to be seen to believe. These temples are excellent examples of our culture artisanship and engineering technology even 1000 years back. How they executed the marvelous pieces of work is something mind boggling.
One should definitely visit Gangaikonda Cholapuram, which is one of the greatest work in chola period"
