"The Sky Gallery at Ambhora is a beautiful spot and a true marvel of modern construction. The cable suspension bridge built over the Sangam of three rivers is just stunning — an impressive structure surrounded by scenic beauty. The sunset view from the gallery is absolutely worth it – truly mesmerizing!

The road conditions are mixed though. From the Nagpur side, the highway is excellent (around 50 km from Umred), but there are hardly any shops or establishments, so it can feel quite lonely at night. From the Bhandara side, the road is in a very poor condition – full of potholes and uneven patches.

Entry to the gallery costs ₹50 for 15 minutes. It gets crowded during peak hours, but you can enjoy great views, click photos, and grab a quick snack (ice cream, chips, wafers) from the small stall inside.

On the downside, crowd management and cleanliness need serious improvement. Many visitors park their vehicles right on the bridge, causing traffic jams. There’s also poor lighting on the bridge — could’ve been much better. Overall, it’s a great idea but poorly executed and maintained.

Still, if you visit during sunrise or sunset, you’ll be rewarded with beautiful views."

Ambhora is uniquely blessed by a sangam of five rivers—the Wainganga, Kanhan, Aam, Kolari, and Murza—which meet near the village, forming a stunning natural vista . Located on the backwaters of the Gosikhurd dam, the area offers expansive water views bordered by hills and lush greenery .

2. Chaitanyeshwar Temple (Shiva Temple)

This ancient temple, also known as Harinath Temple, sits atop Brahmagiri hill overlooking the river confluence. It’s famed for its swayambhu Shivling, a red spiral structure, and rich spiritual history, including links to saint Har Har Swami and the writing of the Marathi text Viveksindhu in the 12th century . Major festivities occur during Mahashivratri and Mondays in Shravan month when devotees perform milk and water abhishekam on the Shivling .

A state-of-the-art 700 m cable-stayed bridge spans the backwaters at Ambhora, officially completed in late 2022 and poised to open to the public after formal approvals . The iconic central pylon, rising ~40 m, features a glass-bottomed sky gallery accessed via lifts and stairs, offering panoramic views of river and landscape below .

4. Tourism & Development

The Maharashtra government has earmarked ₹248 crore for making Ambhora a top tourist hub by 2026, with upgrades that include parking facilities, temple renovation (Shiva temple, Buddha Vihar, a nearby dargah), water sports, boating, adventure activities, and an MTDC resort . Nitin Gadkari has even proposed introducing a Russian hovercraft and a glass-floored restaurant on the bridge .

• Distance: Approximately 65–75 km east of Nagpur, a 1.5–2 hour drive, ideal for a day trip . Nearest major towns: Bhandara (~18 km), Kuhi taluka town .
• Best Season: November to June (dry season) recommended for comfortable weather and clear views. Monsoon/high water-flow might obstruct temple access or boating  .
