What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Japanese Garden Vasco for its serene atmosphere, breathtaking ocean views, and the secluded beauty of Grandmother's Hole Beach. It's a peaceful escape, especially popular for its sunset vistas and nostalgic charm, though amenities are limited and steps to the beach require caution.
"This place is a beautiful combination of a garden 🌱🌱, a temple 🛕,beach ⛱ and a mini- trek in between :) Located on outskirts of Vasco city, it is easily accessible through city bus from Vegetable market with 15/- rs ticket. Need to walk few steps (100m) to the garden. Garden doesn't have much activities for children but offers very good view towards the beach. You need to walk nearly 80 to 100 steps to reach a Shiv Durga mandir and then the beach. This beach is clean, not much crowded and serene. Good to visit at sunset but make sure you leave the beach and climb the steps as the last bus is at 7 pm. Food options include corn, coconut water, sugarcane juice."

"🌿 A Hidden Gem in Goa – Perfect for Peace and Panoramic Views!🌅
Tucked away on a quiet cliff in Vasco, the Japanese Garden is one of the most peaceful and scenic spots in South Goa. It’s not a traditional Japanese garden with elaborate landscaping, but rather a simple, serene space with manicured lawns, palm trees, and sea-facing benches that offer breathtaking sunset views.
What makes it special is the secluded beach below, known as
Grandmother’s Hole Beach. You can reach it via stone steps and a small archway cut into the old fort wall. The beach is almost always empty – no crowds, no shacks – just pure calm and the sound of waves.
💡 Tips:
Visit during sunset for the most magical views.
Carry your own water/snacks; there are no shops inside.
Be careful on the steps if you're heading down to the beach – they can be a bit worn out.
It’s not very touristy, which adds to its charm. Great spot for couples, quiet picnics, or anyone wanting to escape the usual hustle of Goa.
