What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Punarjani Traditional Village for its captivating cultural performances, particularly the dynamic Kalaripayattu and expressive Kathakali. The artists' dedication and the authentic glimpse into Kerala's heritage are highly appreciated. However, some note that the Kathakali is a fusion and that seating is not air-conditioned, with varying price points for different tiers.
"The Kathakali blend with other dance performance was good. But remember if you want to see a pure Kathakali performance this is not the right place. Kalari performance was good but I have see better performance in Munnar Kalari Khestra with half of the price (250 vs 500 here). If you are OK not to have AC theatre better to go more authrntic place in Munnar or Thekkady. I would rate this as average in terms of purity of the performance and charges."

"We attended the show at Punarjani recently and had a wonderful time. We saw both the Kalari and Kathakali performances.
The Kalari show was a one-hour spectacle that brilliantly combined martial arts with traditional Kalaripayattu. The artists were incredibly skilled, performing various programs with fire and swords, and even involved the audience, which was a great touch.
The second show featured a variety of classical Indian dance forms, including Bharathanatiyam, Mohini Attam, Theeyam, Kuchipudi, and Kathakali. The six artists were fantastic, performing to a selection of beautiful songs, including Tamil Bharathanatiyam songs, Kaavadi Sindhu, Murugan songs, and Sita Kalayanam.
The sincerity and dedication of both the Kalari and dance artists were evident throughout the performances. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire show and would highly recommend it!"

"Watching the Kathakali performance was an unforgettable experience! The vibrant costumes, powerful expressions, and graceful yet intense movements brought ancient stories to life in the most mesmerizing way. The artists’ dedication and energy truly showcased the depth of this classical art form. Every beat of the drums and every gesture felt magical. A perfect blend of tradition, culture, and storytelling I thoroughly enjoyed it! 🌸"
