Maharajbagh Zoo and Garden

"Maharajbagh Zoo is a lovely little spot, especially if you're looking for a peaceful break in the city. The botanical garden is a major highlight—it's very well-maintained with beautiful, shaded walking paths that make for a pleasant stroll. I enjoyed seeing the variety of animals, including leopards, tigers, monkeys, bears, deer, mongooses, and peacocks. The different species of parrots were a fun sight, and the small aquarium with different types of fish and turtles was a nice addition.

What makes the visit even more enjoyable are the fun activities available. There's a children's play area with slides and other things to keep the kids entertained, as well as a toy train that's a hit with young visitors. Just outside the entrance, you'll find a small "chaupati" or food court, which is a convenient place for a snack. A word of caution for those not from Maharashtra: the food here tends to be quite spicy, so be sure to ask for a milder version if you're not used to it.

While the garden and additional attractions are fantastic, the animal enclosures themselves could use some improvement and a bit more space. The zoo is quite old, and it shows in some of the cages. It's a great place for kids to see a variety of animals up close, and the nominal entry fee makes it very accessible.

Overall, it's a perfect place for a quick visit, a family outing, or a serene walk through the gardens. It's not a large, modern zoo, but it has a nostalgic charm and offers a nice escape."

"Maharaj Bagh Zoo, located in Gorepeth, Nagpur, is a delightful spot for a day out, especially for families and nature lovers. This small but well-maintained zoo offers a good variety of animals including leopards, bears, tigers, peacocks, parrots, deer, and the rare blue bull. It’s fascinating to observe these animals up close, making it a great place for children and wildlife enthusiasts.

One of the highlights is the separate aquarium, which houses an array of beautiful and vibrant fish species. It's a peaceful and educational experience to wander through, adding to the diversity of the zoo’s attractions.

There are also recreational areas inside the zoo, such as see-saws, rope slides, and slides, perfect for kids to enjoy. These play areas are thoughtfully placed and add a fun element to the visit.

Outside the entrance, you’ll find food stalls where you can grab a quick snack or refreshment, which is convenient after exploring the zoo.

The Cannon Ball tree outside the entrance is a unique attraction and definitely worth a look. It’s quite rare, and its unusual flowers and fruits are an interesting sight.

Overall, Maharaj Bagh Zoo is a nice place for a short, enjoyable visit in Nagpur. It's well-suited for families, and the calm environment and decent facilities make it a pleasant experience.

"Quite big size zoo.
Entry ticket is ₹40 for adults and ₹20 for children.
The maintenance is just like in most of the zoos is other cities.
Tigers, leopard, black bear are main attractions. Dear, Nilgais also shown. An aquarium is also present.
At the entrance, there are several eating joints.
There is children playing area also. Large grounds.
Some animals are depicted in form of model e.g. Rhino.
The iron wire nets are all around the animal enclosures. This hinders the view but protects animals from viewers.
Good place for Children."
