It’s said the Shivling here is swayambhu—self-manifested—and lies even deeper underground, which makes it feel even more sacred. What makes the temple truly special is its architecture. While the inner shrine is old and stone-built, the sabhamandap (assembly hall) was added later during the Peshwa era and is made of beautifully carved wood. The mix of rough stone and warm wooden beams makes the place feel both grand and grounded. There are smaller shrines around for Ganpati, Hanuman, Shani, and Dattatreya, adding to the spiritual energy of the space.
