The fortified perimeter of Rachol is one of the largest European fortified complexes in early modern Asia, though little of it has survived: two churches, the seminary, various scattered and unrecognised curtain wall sections, indistinct ruins of the large fortification that surrounded the Church of Our Lady of the Snows and a monumental gate situated near the seminary, dating to the early 17th century. .....
Serving its allegiance from years, Rachol Seminary is one of the popular tourist attractions in South Goa. The place is well known for its intimation towards the religious activities and thereby becomes the reason for admiring Hinduism, Islam and Christianity all together by the people of Goa. It is located 7 kms distant to the commercial town of Margao. There are whole spread of rice fields and the remains of old Muslim fort all around the Seminary which makes it visible from the distance.
The Rachol Seminary of Goa was developed in 1609 particularly known for its Christian Art. It was prior established as a College Of All Saints which later transformed into College of Saint Ignatius. This place has observed a lot of transitions and played a very important role in preserving the advent of Christianity. The way from Margao to Seminary is brimmed with greenery and clear parkways. The whole Seminary is built as a masterpiece, signifying the major aroma of its history. One can see the well adorned corridors with beautiful paintings, each having a different meaning carved in the history. The Church inside the Seminary has the statue of Saint Constantine, first Roman Emperor who got converted into Christianity.
The Seminary is enriched with underground tunnels, museum and underwater tank. It also houses the oldest printing press of Christians publishing their literary work. The museum of Christian art caters a lot of out-of-towners driving their attention towards the church art being collected from all over the Goa. The place celebrates its feasts and festivals on 1st Sunday of August and on 1st of January. One can't feel tired of inhaling the beauty of art being engraved in the walls of Seminary.

"Steeped in about 400 years of history and still standing proud and all. We did a walking tour of the seminary with Goan shutterbugs and everything was explained to us so thoroughly.
The Church itself is so well maintained and immaculately kept. There’s even a working pipe organ and century old paintings are restored to their former glory. Some earlier paintings were done directly onto the wall and not on a canvas. The Seminary’s grounds are really well maintained too. If you’re a butterfly lover you’ll be sure to spot a lot of species in the front garden.
The best time to visit Rachol is just after the monsoons. Everything is so beautifully green and the rivers and creeks are full. You can even take a 10 minute walk down to the ferry point and take a ride across the river free of charge. (Only cars are charged)"
