However, some note the broken roads and the nuisance of monkeys, advising visitors to be cautious and prepared.

"This is a natural spring located in the forest area of Devanarayanguda, some 10+ Kms from Tumkur. It is also a deer sanctuary and you can spot number of them. There is a nominal entrance fee of Rs. 20/-. The area is full of greenery. As you walk some half a Km you will find the spring pouring into a small hole on the ground from where it is fenced.
Legend says Rama stayed with Sita here during his vanavas and one day while searching for water here for making tilak (Namam) shot an arrow which pierced a rock where from the spring started spurting out. So the name, Namada Chilume (Spring for Namam).
The place is very peaceful and not crowded.
Only the roads, though made out of tar, are broken a lot causing foot pain. The authorities may kindly look into this and take necessary action.
Being in a forest area there are no shops or restaurants nearby. So if you carry your food and water, this would turn out to be a very enjoyable picnic spot for family with kids.
The popular Yoganarasimha temple is located near to this spot, in about 5-7 Kms."

"Namada Chilume (pronounced naamada chilume' in Kannada) is a natural spring situated by Devarayanadurga, near Tumkur The spring issues from the surface of the rock. It is believed that Rama, along with Sita and Lakshmana, stayed here during their exile in the forest. Rama searched for water to apply tilaka to his forehead. When he could not find any water, he shot an arrow at the rock. The arrow penetrated the rock, made a hole, and the water came out. Henceforth, this place was called Namada Chilume, meaning "Spring of Tilak".
