What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Barong Dance for its spectacular visual appeal and the captivating energy of the performers. The traditional Balinese music is also a highlight. However, some find the performance difficult to follow due to the language barrier and occasionally feel it can become boring without a deeper understanding of the story.
"This one place you can enjoy traditional bali dance, one of famous is Barong dance. Barong is mythologycal animal from Bali and symbol of righteousness and justice. The show take about 45 minutes and you will have a stories script with some language choice like english, japan, china, france etc.. but all performance will perform in Balinese language, ya sometimes maybe the artist will speak in english but not many, hopefully they can upgrade the show in english and have any screen to show the plot of stories in english text, it's hard to understand the performance because we can't understand the language and sometimes it feel boring. But i'm apriciate with all artist and give a spectacular performance for all guest :)"

The Symbolism of the Barong Dance
The performance is deeply rooted in ancient Balinese mythology and is considered a sacred ritual by many. The intricate choreography, vibrant costumes, and the hypnotic rhythm of the gamelan orchestra all contribute to the mystical and spiritual atmosphere. The dance often culminates in a dramatic climax where the Barong's followers, in a trance-like state, attempt to defend the Barong against Rangda's dark magic, sometimes even turning their kris daggers upon themselves in a display of devotion.
Understanding this underlying symbolism enriches the viewing experience, transforming it from a mere spectacle into a meaningful cultural immersion. While the narrative is primarily conveyed through movement and music, the provided scripts help audiences grasp the deeper meanings and the significance of each character's role in this timeless battle.
