"This wildlife sanctuary has been used several times as a training ground for the IPB University Fauna Conservation Unit. It generally features lowland forests and tranquil beaches. Several surveys indicate that Ujung Kulin is a second habitat for the Javan rhinoceros due to its similar habitats. For a conservation area that should be more stringent, it's unfortunate that many local trail bikes roam the area, and there are also many released wild buffaloes that often pollute the river water.
