Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Tololela for its exceptional authenticity, offering a genuine cultural immersion. The warm interactions with locals and the opportunity to learn about traditions are highly valued. However, the challenging road access and the need for respectful engagement are key considerations for a smooth visit.

"This is by far the best village to go to if you want the most authentic. The route up is in quite poor shape, we managed, but if you have no experienced on a motorbike leave it at the bottom and walk up in 30 minutes. There is a information board with the village rules in English to read before entering the village. The sign in house is on the right second house in. If no one is there wait for them to greet you before advancing farther. Payment is by donation."

"Beautiful traditional village among the mountains. Cool to see the sewing of sarongs for ceremonies and they had a book explaining the customs and houses in English"

Ellie Bleiberg

"It's a beautiful village (actually two, one up and another lower) where I had a wonderful encounter with Miss Matilde who invited us for coffee on her porch on a very rainy monsoon day. I cherish very much the visit and the time spent in Tololela, it was magic and I hope I'll be back some time. ❤️"
