Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Garnish Island for its stunning, well-maintained gardens and unique architectural features. The scenic ferry ride, often accompanied by seal sightings, is a significant highlight. While some find the island's cafe offerings a bit basic, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many recommending it as a must-visit in West Cork.

"I took the boat tour from Glengariff and never regret it. The skipper was such a nice man and staff also welcoming.
The island entry costs €5 then boat €12 adult return 🙂well spent money.
The gardens are maintained very well, nature is wonderful and couple of benches to take a seat and relax. There is also a small cafe with tea/coffee/hot chocolate and some sweets and cakes.
I spend on the island approximately 2.5 hours as the weather wasn’t sunny.
I recommend to use spray against thick and fly."

"Beautiful island, well worth the visit. The ferry was €12.50 each for adults and it's cash only. There's an ATM which is a 10 minute walk so I'd bring cash with you. The ferry is only 10 minutes but it's beautiful. We saw lots of seals on the way there and back which was a highlight. The ferry went very slow as we got near so lots of photo opportunities.

The island has lots of different themed gardens and viewpoints. Lots of shade on the island if it's hot and the tea house did ok food. Sandwiches were a bit small for us but the soup looked good.

Would definitely recommend if you're in the area. It'll take up a few hours. We went with a pushchair and could navigate most of the island and could then leave the pushchair and carry the baby when there were steps to viewpoints."

"Lovely place to visit, we will be going back next year in the spring/ summer. Staff were nice and friendly, tour of the house very interesting, my tour guide was Emma and a very nice, pleasant lady that knew her stuff. Allow a lot more time on the island than what Google tells you to allow. Let yourself soak up the atmosphere and tranquility, also look out for the seals in the harbour."
