What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mount Leinster is praised for its accessible summit via a paved road and the potential for breathtaking views on clear days. Hikers appreciate the option for more challenging off-road trails and the grounding atmosphere of the Nine Stones area. However, visitors frequently encounter rapidly changing weather, leading to low visibility and chilly conditions, and the lack of facilities is a noted drawback.
"Very straightforward hike that is all on tarmac road
You can do both peaks either side of the carpark in about 2 hours"

"I was visiting a local house and garden and decided to take a trip on a whim. I drove up the the nine stones carpark and firstly headed over to the hills across for a vibe. The warm spring sun was shining and the weather sweet, I has hiking boots in the car so why not. They are cool very ancient vibes, did that on my bare feet and proper grounded myself into the Blackstairs buzz buzz. There is a cairn on the second hill and an impressive mound of quartz on the third mound. I got my hiking boots on and took on the impressive 796 mtr Mount Leinster then. It's a very steep paved road way all the way up, the half way point was kindly marked out on the road. However I wasn't getting my hike feels so just after the half way mark I took a left up a dirt road and proper hiked the rest of the way up which was all the better for getting the feel of the peak. The view from the top was breathtaking. A super easy decent on the paved road, it was 5 pm and getting very chilly on top so was glad to get back into the car and blast the heating because I didn't bring a jacket."

"Walked to the top from the Nine Stones carpark. Weather was lovely and pleasant leaving the car , but from about halfway up, we started to enter into the clouds and a strong breeze. Needless to say, a large temperature drop. Paved access road all the way up, but it's a fairly steep 2.5km. Unfortunately, the cloud was so thick that visibility was down to several meters, so there were no fantastic photos to be taken. Another day, perhaps. But overall, it was a lovely walk regardless."
