What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Skellig Michael as an unforgettable, awe-inspiring destination with breathtaking scenery and historical depth. The challenging climb and unique wildlife encounters are major highlights. However, the trip is highly weather-dependent, leading to frequent cancellations, and the boat journey can be rough, causing seasickness for some.
"Brendan and John Casey were outstanding tour operators. We booked 6 months in advance and were fortunate to have good weather for our trip. (If the weather forced cancellation of the trip we were assured a full refund, or at our choice we could possibly convert to a trip around the islands with no landing at all reduced price; this would be a good fallback option.) The island is a magnificent, unforgettable hike. Be sure to wear proper footwear and clothing, including a rain jacket and hat that won’t blow off, and take water and snacks as there is none on the island. (There is a pit toilet.) If you have vertigo, fear of heights/exposure, or reduced mobility you may choose not to hike the full 600 exposed, ancient steps to the top, but if you’re careful and take your time most people can do it. This was an absolute highlight of our Ireland trip."

"Absolutely fantastic tour that you must do if you swing by Skellig. The islands are just breathtaking, even from afar. And the boat driver was really nice.
Be wary : even on a calm day, you might feel sick because of the motion while heading to the island."

"I couldn't recommend this tour enough! We were meant to do the Landing tour, however due to an ongoing legal case not related to the company, the tour had to be switched to the Eco boat tour. Nonetheless we all enjoyed the tour. There is free parking at the port near the tour meeting point, which was easy to find. The boat felt spacious since they only took on 12 passengers per boat. It left on time and took just over 2 hours for the whole journey. The staff are knowledgeable and shared plenty of interesting information about the islands. We even were lucky enough to spot dolphins, which came up close to the boat!"
