Reviews Summary

Reviews for dining options directly in Sally Gap are mixed, with some praising friendly service and good food, while others found the atmosphere cramped and the pricing high. The hotel restaurant, in particular, has faced criticism for service issues and food quality not matching expectations. Many suggest packing snacks or dining in nearby villages for a more consistent experience.

"Wife and I stayed at Powerscourt for a night during a quick trip to Ireland. Hotel was amazing. We elected to eat at Sally Gap vs. Sika as prices for Sika we not listed on the menu.

The staff was very friendly albeit busy. Our dishes were burrata, ribeye and sirlon. The burrata was rich and creamy, pairing nicely with the complimentary bread. The steaks were good, but not amazing. They were very thinly cut compared to what I was expecting but the cooking (medium rare) and taste (nicely charred) were there. Certainly a lively atmosphere and solid choice if staying at Powerscourt."

"Great food and service. We were a big group and they were very accommodating"

Hams Profrogger

"I liked the restaurant when it formerly was a pub. Now the restaurant has tables jammed in very close together like a cafeteria. Eat out in the bar area where it is a bit more spacious. At times this is your only restaurant option. Rooms and lobby of the hotel have a lovely view, but the Sally Gap and bar have no view."
